Inspection & Testing Process

At Kooperly Film, we specialise in selling film cameras to photography enthusiasts and understand there is an inherent risk when purchasing a second hand film camera. One of the ways we ensure the quality of our products is by thoroughly testing each camera before it is sold for wear & tear, dust, fungus and mechanical issues.

Here is a brief overview of their testing process:

  • Visual & physical inspection: Each camera is first visually inspected to ensure that it is in good physical condition. This includes checking for any scratches, dents, or other damage that may affect the camera's performance. We disclose any of the above in the product description to accurately represent the camera's current condition and factor these into our pricing.
  • Shutter test: The shutter speed is a critical component of a film camera, as it determines how long the camera's shutter remains open during an exposure. We ensure the shutter opens & closes accurately.
  • Film loading test: Loading film into a camera can be a tricky process, and a poorly loaded film can result in ruined shots. Kooperly Film tests each camera's film loading mechanism to ensure that it works smoothly and reliably.
  • Light meter & flash test: Many cameras have an automatic light meter to determine the shutter speed and need for flash. We test these to ensure they are working correctly and accurately.
  • Functional test: Finally, Kooperly Film performs a comprehensive functional test on each camera, checking all of its buttons, dials, and other controls to make sure that they are in good working order.

Once the camera has passed all tests it's thoroughly cleaned and ready to be sold to its new owner. This commitment to testing & quality helps set us apart from other sellers of used film cameras, and has helped build a loyal customer base among film photography enthusiasts.

For extra peace of mind, Kooperly Film includes a 30 day returns policy with all purchases and the optional extra of 90 day returns policy. Visit our 'returns' page for more information

Finally, we strive to be open and transparent in our product descriptions whilst closely following the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) guidelines, ensuring our cameras are:

  1. thoroughly tested.
  2. in good working condition.
  3. match the product description provided.
  4. of merchantable (sellable) quality.
